OH BOY MAGAZINE is my final project as part of my MA Fashion Journalism course at London College of Fashion, for which I was awarded a distinction. The publication focuses on everyday fashion inspired by menswear, always having modern women’s needs in mind. While creating the magazine, I acted as creative director, writer, editor, stylist, photographer, graphic designer and social media manager.

Editors Letter:

It‘s a very strange time to be releasing a new magazine. As I‘m writing this, the UK just went into a third national lockdown due to Covid-19. Of course, the production of this issue has been massively influenced by the events of 2020, which continue to be part of our lives in 2021. But we know we‘re not alone. That’s why we decided to acknowledge the new normal in our first issue, dedicating content to the recent reality of many. Working from home? We got you covered with comfy yet stylish outfit ideas on pages 18 to 23.

But, of course, there‘s more you can expect from Oh Boy Magazine:

We celebrate everyday fashion inspired by menswear. By emphasising the power of clothes to elevate your daily life, this publication focuses on fashion that makes you feel comfortable and confident. We want to present an alternative to the fast-paced nature of the fashion industry by showcasing classic silhouettes and timeless garments, inspired by menswear, to serve the needs of modern women (and everyone else). Reflected by this, you may find vintage pieces in our shoots that serve as a source of inspiration to build a wardrobe that represents no one but yourself. If you struggle to dismiss the dress to impress mentality, read our piece on the importance of dressing for yourself on page 46.

We believe that fashion is fun, even without large patterns, loud colours, and fancy cuts. Investing in items that last and are easy to com- bine makes dressing stress-free, enjoyable, and more sustainable. Find out why you should build your own uniform on page 38 and discover the joy of wearing neutral colours on page 32.

Oh Boy aims to bring the world of menswear to your home and heart, always following the mantra: Real clothes, no fuss.

We hope that this magazine brightens up these strange times and you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed creating it. Stay safe!
